romeo has fallen in love deeply with a new woman. he completly frogot about rosaline, and moved onto juliet. He kindof starts “stalking” juliete to find out more of her, if i were julliet i would be a little concerned that a guy is stadning outside of my window, but she likes im and the attention. and ofourse we have the world famous balcony schene, which whenever i read i cannot take seriously, but other than that he finds out she i very wealthy and that their familys dont quiet get along but nothing stops true love, right?
Well romeo is less sad and weepy and more stalker. If i was juliet i would be scared. someone might here you Also romeo is kind of stupid just talking to someone at there window? People would see you!!! Not the most well thought out idea =[
Romeo and Juliet is a fantastic love story, but there are many parts that dont make sense. Although Romeo has good intentions, he comes off a little strong for a sixteen year old boy. Most girls would be scared, but Juliet finds his antics romanticand appealing. The balcony scene is by far my favorite scene in the entire book. In this scene, Shakespear uses perfect prose to create a perfect love scenario. This scenario is one of the most important love scenarios in history. I really enjoy shakespears writing, and his poetic forms. I really am looking foreward to the end of the book, but not the part where they die.
Romeo has fallen in love with a new womem. He he met her at a party. the party Capulets house. after the party romeos cousin whent home and romeo stayed there and wated out side her window. then romeo starts talking to her then she says that their fathers wouldnt let her take his name although they love each other
In the first act Romeo is moping around over Rosaline. His parents are worried and in an effort to cheer up his friend, One of his friends tells him that there are more beautiful girls then her and takes him to Capulet’s banquet. I find it amusing that it takes all of an hour to decide to ditch the girl he’s been dreaming, fawning, and moping over, saying that whithout her love he’s kind of dead Blah, Blah, Blah, and within a span of 5 minutes is desperately in love with another woman. And he is super sraight forward. Now Juliet is his new love and he couldn’t live without her either.
As he suddenly shows up beyond her window she tells him it is the name Montague that keeps them apart. Not his hands or face, but merely his name and he must change it. I personally love the rose line. He says whatever you want. I would find it a little annoying to be Juliet where he won’t leave her alone and everything he does is what she wants. (Lacks personal judgement.) But I love this play and Shakespeare is phenomenal and I can’t wait to read more.
i completely agree with kaitlyn one second he is all depressed because he “loves” Rosaline and then he sees someone prettier and instantly falls for her. How does he know if he even loves her? he barely talked to her, last time he said he couldnt live without someone he forgot her in a second.
To be climbing to her window just to see her doesnt seem like its love to me i think it was more of infatuatuon but they pushed the love. He didnt know her…sure there could be the posssibility of love at first sight, but with a guy who has an attention span of 5 mintues like kaitlyn said, i really think it was just infatuation but they pushed and they said they were in love that eventually they did fall in love and die. muahahahah jk
I have to agree with everyone so far on how Romeo is kind of inconsistent with feelings about girls and the depression he had. I also think that as Mrs. Gu said Juliet is to cunning for her own good like when she’s asking who Romeo is. I also like the balcony scene but as everyone said that does seem a little pushy for a 16 year old boy.
I am enjoying Romeo and Juliet so far because I am understanding it better than I expected (if I read it slowly enough). The lines flow so well and are so poetic. I guess thats one of the reasons why shakespeare is so well known is because he writes so beautifully. I think Romeo is lucky during the balcony scene that when he was talking, and someone came out, that it was Juliet and not the nurse. He needs to be more carfull and descrete. Juliet, on the other hand is a very cunning and intelegent 13 yearold. She knows what to say when it comes to getting around things.
So i think Romeo is a very dramatic boy. but at least he stopped moping over his last girlfriend and moved on to Juliet. I think its really funny how Romeo and Juliet love each other after talking for like one minute, oh well guess it was love at first site. And i agree with everyone else that Romeo is kindof stalkerish. If a guy i just met found my house and was yelling at me through my balcony i would be a little upset.
Romeo finds Juliet’s window and starts speaking to it..thats comming on a little too strong if you ask me haha. Quite stalker like but Juliets some how finds his new obsession with her appealing; which leads to the so well know balcony seen. All of a sudden Romeo’s depression has vanished because of this new girl that he is in love with now. And between to two familys who loath eachother so; I guess thats true love that can’t be stoped.
I think that Romeo is coming out very strong and Juliet should be scared. I find it a little weird that he is already over Rosaline, but then again he is only 16. I think that it will be interesting to see what happens between the Capulet and the Montague families. I am looking foward to the ending, and I am understanding a lot more than I thought I would in Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo forgot about his ‘true love,’ Rosaline and moved on to Juliet. At first site he fell in love with her. I think he fell in love very quickly. Immediantly he talks about wanting her to know of his love. Romeo seems a bit inconsistant. When he says: Lady, I swear by the sacred moon above. Juliet responds to his moon comment negatively and says dont swear by the moon because it changes so often. Maybe Romeo cant make up his mind about love. After all he is a 16 year old.
If I were Juliet I’d be a bit concerned if someone had shown up at my balcony and started listening to me talking about my love life, and then started talking to me.
I guess both Juliet and Romeo were not having very great love lifes; Juliet has to marry Paris, she doesnt love him. Romeo had just figured out his ‘true love’ wasnt going to be thinking about marrige, love, and that stuff. I think maybe they just connected. They were so alike and I guess they could just feel it.. Maybe Romeo and Juliet are a ‘perfect couple’
as many people have already said i think that the balcony scene is so poetic, and is my favorite scene so far. i also think that romeo comes on a little strong but i guess that is what juliet likes. this is a great love story partly because of shakespear’s writing and poetic usage of words and patly because of the set up.
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous love stories of all time, and I think I am finding out why! Although the way Shakespeare has written it is quite abstract and very poetic, the message still shines through. I think it is clever how Shakspeare craftily wrote the story so it seems like Romeo and Juliet are meant to be together. They have all the odds stacked against them: they are of rival families, both involved in other relationships(poor Rosaline and Paris!), only briefly meeting at a party Romeo wasn’t even supposed to be at!, etc. However when you combine Romeo’s romantic ego and forwardness with Juliet’s grace and intelligence….well I guess we’ll find out!
So far this is a good book and I now understand why it is so famous… but it’s a little lovey-dovey for me!!!!ha ha
I realize that this is thought of as one of the world’s greatest love stories, however from my perspective (that of a fourteen year old boy) there are a few things that bother me. First, Romeo is very fickle because in the beginning of the play he dramatically claims his love for Rosaline, yet that night he is madly in love with Juliet. Secondly, Romeo seems to be in a mad rush to get married to Juliet. Thirdly, most sixteen year old boys do not go around telling their friends and cousins how much they love someone… most of the boys I know talk about movies and sports. And lastly, Romeo seems very interested in Juliet, but SHE IS ONLY THIRTEEN!!! (I do realize that in that time thirteen was an appropriate age for marriage.) I have to be honest, all the drama and romantic language are a bit much for me to relate to. I do understand the beautiful wording that Shakespeare uses. I can relate to “th’ inconstant moon, That monthly changes in her circled orb, Lest that th love prove likewise variable”, because the moon constantly is changing. Juliet does not want their
love to be in orbit or be a waning moon. Shakespeare’s writing is full of interesting comparisons and very artistic wording. I think that he is a good writer, but I sometimes have some trouble with the drama in his storyline.
so far i agree with everyones opinions. Romeo is a strange character with many personalities. He goes from sulking about rosie 1 minute and then decides he has fallen in love but more of a forbidden love with Juliet. Juliet has also fallen in love but cunningly doesnt display any of her feelings to anyone. Like when she asks Romeos name and when she tells her mother that she hasnt given marriage any thought.
Nice job, guys. Don’t forget, that in this kind of forum (and because we have all read the same pages of the play) summarization of what has taken place in the play is less desirable to offering your thoughts and feelings about what is taking place. I like to hear what you think and hear your support for why you feel the way you do.
Also, please note that Shakespeare never clearly states Romeo’s age in the play, but he does say that Romeo does not yet sport a beard, so we can assume he is “around” sixteen.
The balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet is pretty infamous. I thought it was funny that in just that one “lovey-dovey” conversation that they just had to get married straight away. I suppose that love was easier back in those times when it was just an assumption of beauty that proved one man to a woman that they were meant to be. Nowadays that would be considered shallow. In any case, we should watch the modern version of R+J that came out in the 90’s. I think that would be a good way to truly understand the plot.
Romeo and Juliet are very in love even though they haven’t known each other for more than a day (well night). They now know who each other are and they decided to keep it a secret. Neither of them wanted to say ‘good night’ but eventually Juliet gets Romeo to leave because she was nervous that someone would see him. They even plan to meet ‘tomorrow’ at nine in private.
After the party that Romeo goes to he stays to see his new love Juliet. When Juliet and Romeo are talking to each other and both agree that last names don’t matter and juliet wonders why Romeo has to be a Montague and not someone elase.
I think that Romeo is too wrapped up in Juliet and to realize the dangers around him. In the beginning of the balcony scene,Juliet keeps telling him that she can’t be with Romeo the Montague, because it’s too risky. Romeo just says he’ll change his name. He’s being way too unrealistic. Juliets parents aren’t going to let her marry a montague just because he changed his name. Romeo needs to get his head out of the clouds and realize the dangers of this relationship, or it will be his death.
Okay, I definitely agree with everyone so far, yes, I know, I’m sort of unoriginal but yeah. I think that Romeo is like a little strange bacause he just got over moping about Rosaline and got all hyper and in love because he saw one girl (Juiet). It would take a lot longer to get over a person you loved in my opinion. Also, Juliet just goes along with it, even though she says they can’t be together because he’s a Montague. I would be creeped out if a guy I just met appeared on my balcony and declared his love for me. Overall, it’s a good book and very interesting, although it sometimes doesn’t make sense. I’m excited to read the rest. ^^
Ok, I’ve read the play before, but, going back on what I remember when I first read this scene I really thought it was weird. Romeo sucks it up and starts stalking Juliet. That’s really scary. He really doesn’t realize that he’s walking into a situation that will end in his demise. He knows how much the families hate eachother. Even if he wanted to sacrifice himself for love, he barely knows the girl. I find almost unintelligent, what he’s doing. Juliet realizes the dangers and is the smart one out of the two, but unfortunately Romeo is going to push the issue and situation too much.
I’d like to point out the peer pressure that went on between Romeo and his friends. He is pressured to come to the party, and feels pressured to approach Juliet, and then later, feels pressured to ‘do things’ with her.
Romeo has fallen deeply in love with a buetiful young lady he met at a party at the Capulets household. I myself believes that Romeo is to much in love and should take relationship slowly, and what a risk it is to date this girl even though their families dont get along.
