As usual, use this space to discuss up to page 85. In particular, pay attention to the following: 1) one small hope based on Jocasta’s tale; 2) news from Corinth and 3) flaws as stated by Chorus.

ok so i think that the small hope based oh iocastas tale is that the gods are some time wrong like when they bind the feet of their child and trough it of the cliff so that he wouldnt kill laius and that maybe they would be wrong about oepipues prophecy. the news from corinth is that oedipus’s dad polybus is dead. and im not sure about the flaws stated be the chorus.

its all good mrs. G…….the first question is that he was by him self not a group so if what the man had said a group of people then he was not the killer. and for the second question….the news is that polybus died of old age and sickness.

I think it’s because she doesn’t want him to figure out who he was born to.

my guess ( from what i have read so far) is that she wants him to stay and he wants to go back to were he left from to prevent him from killing his father and having kids with his mother.

I think that the small hope in the tale is that oracles are sometimes wrong. The news from Corinth is that polybus is dead.I think that the flaws sated by the chorus is Pride. The chorus sings that pride will climb to the topmost height, and then fall down into uttermost destruction, and that their is no escape from it.
