  1. Rachel L Says:

The poem that I liked best was the 7 ages of man. I felt that the pain of a daughter was good, but it was too sad for me.

  2. Rachel L Says:

I think that the pain of a daughter describes the human condition better than the 7 ages of man. The pain of a daughter is about a girl growing up into a women and the father watching her grow. I feel that it more accurately describes the human condition.

  3. Rachel L Says:

The tone of each of the poems are about poeple growing up. In the Pain of a Daughter it is about a father who watches his daughter grow and become a women. In the 7 ages of man is about how an average person starts as a baby and then dies. Both of the poems are about people growing up.

  4. Taryn Says:

I think that feeling pain for your kid shows the love you have for them and the connection that you share.

i liked the stages of life poem more than the other one.

The line about the toes floting in a puddle or bloed, that was nasty. The one about the old man having nothing.

I think that the poem about the stages of life described the human condition better than the othre one did.

  6. Derek Says:

I liked 7 ages of man better than the girl one.

  7. Derek Says:

I thought the other poem was to graphic like the time that it said the girl got her toes chopped off, and her boot was filling up with blood.

  8. Kelsey M. Says:

I understood the Seven Ages of Man better than Pain for a Daughter. The way Shakespeare expressed the seven ages seemed better than the grossness of the other poem.

  9. Kelsey M. Says:

I agree with Taryn about the blood in the boot and the fingernails. Gross!

  10. erico Says:

I like both of the poems. My favorite was pain for a daughter, it was very dark and sad. The reason I liked it so much was because it has very good figerative speak and justs puts you in the mind set of this girl. The author did a wonderful job creating this charactor, the story is so strong it pulls you in and you can really feel the pain for this girl who is becoming a woman.

  11. erico Says:

I disagree with Taryn and Kelsey. I believe that the toes and blood show you how this girl is feeling and makes the story alot better. It also helps you picture this story in your mind.

  12. Derek Says:

Iliked the 7 ages of man because it used a lot of figurative language, and that realy helped me understand the story better. It was also a very interesting subject to write a poem about.

  13. erico Says:

I liked the seven ages of men. It was very true and made you think. i believe it is a great story and very well written but it is just not my cup of tea.

  14. Kelsey M. Says:

The Pain for a Daughter was too weird to understand. Letting a child go should be either happier or less gross. I thought that letting a child go had nothing to do with a pony.

  15. Josh D Says:

I feel that The Seven Stages Of Man represends the human condition the best. It really puts the way humans live in prspective.

  16. Josh D Says:

kelsey, I think the pony is what helps lead up to the fact that the mom knows her child is growing up. i think that the way the story moves from the girl having a pony to the girl riding full horses also shows how she is growing up.

  17. robyn c Says:

I liked the Anne Sexton poem was my favorite because it had alot of strong vocabulary.

  18. robyn c Says:

    not vocab. writting sorry

  19. robyn c Says:

I also think the anne Sexton poem descibes more about the human emotions and doings.

  20. Giseleine D. Says:

My favorite poem is the stages of man poem. The Pain for a Daughter was very descriptive.

  21. robyn c Says:

I think the tone for the man one was that the guys had to be tough but the other one was also you had to be tough but it was not as emphasized as much, but the girl had to be tough with her horses.

  22. MadisonH Says:

The tone of the stories was of people growing up. Having a child grow up and leave home is hard for the parents.

I don’t think The Pain for a daughter does not express a good thing. She acts like a women but it is still to gross.

The most favorite stage in the Seven ages of a man is when the men show how mature they are by singing up for the army.

I like the Seven ages of a man because its is not graphic like The Pain for a daughter.

A Line from The Pain for a Daughter is when she calls for god instead of her mom. A line from The Seven ages of men is when they sing up for the military.

The poem that best describes human condition is The pain of a Daughter.

  23. Giseleine D. Says:

I agree with Taryn on the fact that the story is good at showing that the mom is expressing great love, and i think that the toes floating in the puddle of blood was nasty, but it gives you the image of what is happening to the girl and it describes how painful it is.

  24. Mike Says:

I liked the Pain for a Daughter better. The Pain for a Daughter explains the Human Condition better. The Tone of the Daughter poem was somewhat dark and the Man poem was more light.

  25. Giseleine D. Says:

I do not believe that the descriptions in The Pain for a Daughter expressed a beautiful thing because pain is not beautiful. The figurative language was very good, and it really gave me a ” mind movie”.

  26. Josh D Says:

I think the pain for a daugher is very ture to how mothers feel. I think that when the mother heard her daughter scream really shows how kids grow up.

  27. MadisonH Says:

I like the Seven ages of a man because its is not graphic like The Pain for a daughter.

A Line from The Pain for a Daughter is when she calls for god instead of her mom. A line from The Seven ages of men is when they sing up for the military.

The poem that best describes human condition is The pain of a Daughter.

  28. MadisonH Says:

i dislike the Pain of a Daughter because it was to nasty and graphic.

  29. Giseleine D. Says:

I agree with Josh. I like how he described it.

  30. EVAN B Says:

I thought that The Seven Ages of Man more accurately describes the human condition because it made more sence than the Pain for a Daughter. How it talked about how the world is a stage, and Pain for a Daughter didn’t really explain the human conditions

  31. david.c Says:

I like the stages of man.

I think that the poam about the stages of man described the human condition better than the othre one did.

I think the tone of these two poems are just like peple growing up.

  32. EVAN B Says:

I agreed with Josh when he said how kids really grow up.

  33. Giseleine D. Says:

Seven Stages of Man more accurately describes the “human condition”, because people do not get their toes stepped on by a pony every day or stage of their life.

  34. Marissa T. Says:

I liked the daughter poem because it showed how deep a mother’s feeling was towards her daughter.

  35. Marissa T. Says:

I also liked how the mom realized that her daughter was growing up.

  36. Marissa T. Says:

I also liked the seven stages poem because the stages were accurate.

  37. Sam F. Says:

I like the stages of man the best. It is more realistic.

  38. Sam F. Says:

I did not like the Pain of a Daughter because it was to graphic.

  39. Sam F. Says:

The Pain of a Daughter sounded different then what it relly meant to me. It sounded like she died, and not the pony.

  40. connor D. Says:

i think 7 stages of a man is more realistic than the other but the other was moving too

  41. connor D. Says:

the tone of pain for a daughter is much more dark than 7 stages of a man

  42. connor D. Says:

oops didn’t finish the last comment
7 stages of a man is much more down to earth and compelling

  43. Nick G. Says:

    1. I think that both poems have a sad tone to them.

    2. I think the poem “Pain for a Daughter” does describe the beauty of a mother’s love for her daughter because the mom realizes that the girl is grown up.

    3. The most favorable stage for man is the stage in which men enroll for the military because men show their toughness in that stage.

  44. connor D. Says:

i think the pain for a daughter better describes much more of the human condition because it can be applied to more peoples lives.

  45. illianna Says:

I liked The Seven Stages of Man. I felt that they were talking about how a person grows up in the world. It also showed that each person is but a small dot on the earth. That each person, is nothing but a part of history, some people may do great things, and some may not.

  46. illianna Says:

My favorite poem is The Seven Stages of Man, as it is the one that most accurately describes humanity, from it’s start to finish.

  47. illianna Says:

Pain for a Daughter, is a good work of litterature writen in mostly figuretive language. It describes the pain that a mother goes through in watching her child grow-up. The mother in this poem was upset at losing her child, she knew that she had lost her child when she had called on God for help instead of her mother, as she had done in the past.

  48. Marina Says:

    i liked both poems.

There really isn’t a favorable stage for man i guess the soldier would be sort of more favorable than the rest.

I think stages of man described the condition of man better than the other one did, but I liked both of them and thought they were both good

  49. Mike Says:

My favorite poem was the Pain for a Daughter

  50. Mike Says:

The Pain for a Daughter explains the human condition better.

  51. Mike Says:

The tone in the Seven stages of man was lighter than the Daughter Poem, which was very dark.

  52. Savannah C Says:

I liked the seven stages poem.
i thought that it was very real and true.
I think that the tone of these poems were both people getting older and growing wiser

  53. bill f Says:

I thought that the pain for a daughter did not show the human conditions an the
Seven Ages for man. It was a very well described story compared to
Daughters pain. Pain for my daughter was to gore for me.

  54. Savannah C Says:

I lked the stages of a man poem.
I think that the stages poem described humans better than the other one did.
I think both poems were about people getting older and wiser.

  55. Rachel S. Says:

I think that the stages of man focuses on the life of a man more than a women. And as for the pain of a daughter, I think that in a way it is sad because the horse died, and this girl is going through all this pain. Both poems are about the hardships of life, and I think that they express this very well.

  56. Darien.C Says:

Which poem do you like better?I like the stages of man poem the best because it shows how we cant be just one we will come across all of them in life most likely.

Do you feel as though Pain for a Daughter expresses a beautiful thing despite its use of figurative language? Yes because it shows that the mom knows that from her daughters horse dying to her crying over her disassembled toes that she learns that her daughter isnt believing her as god she’s believing God is the supreme ruler.

Which poem more accurately describes the “human condition”?the seven stages describes the human condition better because you go through tons of stages in life.Instead of believing that god is ruler after a certain age.

  57. gabe Says:

I think that the Pian of a daughter is too graphic.

  58. gabe Says:

I liked the seven stages of man because it was more realistic and it was not wierd.

  59. gabe Says:

I also think that the seven stages of man described growing up better because it went further than the pain of a daughter did.
