Who does Boxer represent? (Hint: he does not represent a specific person). Why is his character important? Do you feel emotionally attached to him? Does he illicit pity or admiration from you, and why?

I think boxer represents the military of the USSR. He also just represents the strong horse on the farm that protects the animals. He is important because he always protects the animals with his life on the line. I feel emotionally attached to him because he is the that protected animal farm from the begining. I admire boxer because he is the strongest of the pack.

Boxer represents the protection of the rebelling animals. He is important because without him they would have no background protection and they would have to watch themselves much more carefully rather than just fighting. I do feel a strong connection for him and a lot of admiration because his strength makes it easier for the animals who have a set plan for them to be affective.

The military is probably what boxer represents Mike. Good point! But don’t you think the military would be controlled by the government who the animals are rebelling against?

What i meant Emily was boxer just protects he animal farm (USSR) from the outside forces and the government is inside animal farm, like Napolean and his dogs.

Boxer the great represents common Proletariats who are not educated.
He thinks Napoleon is always right.

Yes, but lower class may provide protection and support. That is also an option.

To me Boxer represents the hard working middle class that pushes themselves to the brink of death and then the leader disregards them like they were nothing. Boxer works hard and makes up for the other animals slack. That part of him i admire, but he is one of the most gullible and stupid animals on the farm and those are the quality’s that helped Napoleon take over the farm.

I do not think Boxer represents the military. He is more of a volunteer he works hard and pushes himself. No one pushes him. Boxer is a great fighter but he is more of a lover. His motivation is not to benefit himself but to benefit others.

I am sorry I meant lower class not middle oops.

I think that Boxer represents the unducated working lower class. Boxer is an important character because he is always the one who is working harder than the others even though it hurts him. Boxer is also a bit stupid. For example he has two mottos the first, “I will work harder!” and then, “Napoleon is always right!”. When he is slightly confused by Napoleon’s decisions he simply says, “Napoleon is always right!” and that fixes everything in his mind. I felt really emotionally attached to Boxer, and when something really really happens to him it made me really sad that he, and all of the other animals as well, were so gullible. I feel both admiration and pity for Boxer admiration because he works so hard for the others, and pity because even though he works so hard, when he gets old and can’t work as hard he just gets thrown away like he dosn’t even matter now that he can’t work. That’s also pretty much what happened to the working uneducated lower class.

I also agree with Mike that Boxer could also represent the military.
