Discuss your feelings about Snowball–is he getting a raw deal? Is he to blame for any of the trouble occuring on the farm? Why did he run away? How do you feel about the humans?

  1. Emily H Says:

Snowball doesn’t have a fair deal because he comes up with all of the ideas and the other animals turn against him. When Snowball is out of the way the animals decide to use his ideas. I don’t think he should be blamed for anything that happened on the farm because he was only trying to make things better. The humans are trying to get the animals back on their side so the animals( the ones rebelling) don’t have any kind of advantage. The humans may be using the animals ideas against them.

  2. Eric O Says:

Snowball is the brains behind most of the operations. Napoleon disagrees with all of Snowballs ideas until he is out of the way. Then he takes all of Snowballs ideas and makes them his own. I believe all the things that have happened on the farm cannot be traced back to Snowball. I believe Snowball disappeared because he knew if he came back he would be killed. I think that some of the men are evil but others are just trying to be fair. Mr.Jones might have been an evil man I don’t know because he wasn’t in the book for a long time. But some of his actions seem like any person would do. He just wants his farm back.

  3. Eric O Says:

I agree with Emily. Most of our ideas are the same. The only thing I see differently is that I don’t think the humans want the animals on there side I think they want to take advantage of them.

  4. Mike A. Says:

I think snowball does not ahve a fair deal with the rest of the animals because he comes up with everything. He has the best ideas in my opinion. I dont think he is to blame with all of the mishaps on the farm because for example a major mishap is the destruction of the windmill, that snowball came up with and supplys the farm with electricty, got blown down by just the wind nothing else. I think he ran away because he had enough of of napolaen and his horrible arrguements. I think the humans just want the farm back that some animals stole. I think the humans are doind the right thing because it is afterall their farm.

  5. Mike A. Says:

I agree with both emily and eric. i agree with eric more because we both have the same ideas. But emily, you differ a little bit from mine but thats ok

  6. Emily H. Says:

That’s exactly what I meant eric. The humans will trick the animals into thinking they’re on their side and then they will take advantage of them.

  7. Emily H. Says:

I also agree with both mike and eric. They both have strong topics.

  8. Marina Says:

Snowball is the smarter pig, and while both of the pigs are jerks I think that Snowball is better than Napoleon because he’s the one who is trying to make the animals lead happier lives with more luxuries. I’m not really sure whether Snowball is getting a good deal or not. He has the best ideas and spends all of his time planning them out and doesn’t get a rest from thinking, but he doesn’t have to do all of the back breaking work like the others. I think that Snowball isn’t responsible for the things that go wrong. I mean the windmill was blown down by the wind. He didn’t do any of the things that they blamed him for. Snowball ran away because he hated the arguments with Napoleon and he got chased off by the dogs. I think that the humans are human and some are better than others. Mr. Jones wasn’t in the book for long enough to decide whether he was reacting as anyone would or if he was evil.

  9. Marina Says:

I agree with Mike and Eric in saying that the humans are fighting to get their farm back because it IS their farm. The animals just took it over and kicked them out, but they had a pretty good reason for doing it.
